Dem Delegates, Obama Church, and Where am I?

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

I can’t tell you how many times in the past week+ I have wanted to sit down and blog away on the MANY things that have in the news lately, most recently Hillary getting a boost from the decision to count 1/2 of the delegates from Michigan and Florida, proving that, yes indeed, rules are made to be broken…depending upon who will benefit from them.

And Obama has taken his membership from his church that has taken up a lot of news time, to little to late? We’ll see.

Memorial day has come and gone, and I didn’t mention how much we appreciate our wonderful military…if you look at “Veteran’s Day” under categories, you’ll find a couple of posts that fit the occasion…including one about my Father-in-Law and other family members.

Yep, I could go on and on, and will be doing that now that we’re home from vacation and I have internet access again…but for now, just wanted to explain my absence.

Insensitive Press on Senator Ted Kennedy

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

I have been listening on and off all weekend and beyond for news of a diagnosis on Senator Kennedy following his seizure(s) Saturday morning, then today, it came.  Over the years we haven’t been fans of Senator Kennedy in some of his thinking and decisions, but that never takes away from concern for a fellow human being, and as my husband and I prayed for our meal tonight, he took a moment to remember Ted Kennedy, praying for healing physically, and a right spiritual focus to face the days to come.

But getting to the “insensitive press” part, though yes, the brain tumor may be serious, I was surprised to hear some speak of him as if his life is over…not everyone spoke that way, but enough.  How hard for Kennedy if he is tuning in the news to hear such talk. I hope he isn’t listening, and focusing on his family and his future.

Everyone knows the list of tragic events that have befallen the Kennedy family for many years…anyone who can come through all of that, and still find a way to press on, is ready to face yet another challenge.

We’re praying for you, Senator Kennedy.

“Mountain Mama” Hillary Cleans Up in WV

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

I had to laugh tonight when hubby was watching “Special Report with Brit Hume” on FOX News when Brit referred to Hillary Clinton as West Virginia’s new “Mountain Mama”…so funny! (For you youngin’s who don’t know what that’s referring to, it’s John Denver’s song “Country Roads” - the lyrics in question “West Virginia, mountain Mama, take me home, country roads” - think I got that right.)

It looks like Mountain Mama Hillary has won big in little West Virginia, the State my dear Dad was born. But I can pretty much assure you that if he were alive today, and living in WV, he wouldn’t have voted for Hillary.

There she is, it’s 1:10 am EST and she’s at the podium giving her victory speech…she’s not giving up it sounds like, even though Obama has her beat by delegates and more super delegates are getting behind him each day…now she’s begging for help. Oh there’s the plug for her website, yes, she needs money, she’s using her own to fund the campaign still I think?? She commends Obama, and states they have had “a few dust ups along the way” whatever that means. The rest is nothing new at all, yawn.

It’s almost over, only a few weeks to go until the real campaign begins…between Obama and McCain…will I eat my words? We’ll see.

President & Laura Bush, Father & Mother of the Bride

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Jenna Bush is now married to her long-time sweetheart, Henry Hager at the Bush family ranch today. As a Mom that has a married daughter, every wedding brings back memories of the day when my daughter was married. She was married the day before Father’s Day 4 years ago, and Jenna has married the day before Mother’s Day. I hope it was a very special day for the Bush and Hager families, and wish Jenna and her husband all the best as they start a new life together.

And to all of you Moms out there, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!

Jxlogo_futureI know that a number of you that visit are in business for yourself, or are professionals in a business, so thought I’d take a break from politics to share something that will be helpful to you or the company you are working for. It’s an Online Time and Expense service. The service provides tools to track accounting for your projects, or client billing, or payroll - or if you would like you can manage all three with the complete manager package. There are many benefits, including increasing your per project profitability through tracking your projects. The website is well organized, so you will find it easy to take a look at what the various services offer, and best of all, you can try the Timesheet software for free to get a feel for how it works.

I Lied…Still Up, Hillary Wins Indiana

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

When I saw the count get to within 2% points between Obama and Clinton, I had to wait out the results, Hillary squeaked out a win…but whether it was enough of a win, and with the loss in NC, what does it mean for the Hillary campaign, is it worth pressing on?  That will be the talk of the day tomorrow (oh yeh, today) and beyond.

Now I REALLY am going to bed!

Is Indiana Really Too Close to Call for Clinton Obama?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

It’s almost 11 pm on the east coast, I’m tired, Hillary is giving her “victory” speech even though the channel I’m on has Obama winning North Carolina, and Hillary close to winning Indiana, but it hasn’t been declared officially. “Winning” by only 4% points in Indiana.

I’m not sure I’ll make it until midnight, but it’s been a pretty good night for Obama I’d say, after all the negative press to have taken NC and be so close in Indiana.

Oh, there goes Hillary stealing Laura Bush’s speech from yesterday appealing to the Junta government to let aid in…okay, sorry, guess I shouldn’t accuse her of stealing the speech, it’s an important issue.

“Now it’s on to WV, Kentucky, Oregon and the other States” so says Hillary, and on that note, goodnight.
