The Death of a Beautiful Woman

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Unless you never watch the news, you know that today a notable life was lost. Benazir Bhutto was a beautiful woman, inside and out. I have been impressed by her each time I’ve heard her interviewed.

She knew that she was risking her life each time she went into the public, and desired more protection from the government than perhaps she received, but this did not stop her from her passion for her nation, Pakistan, and her people. In one interview I read she states that she knew that assassination was a possibility, and had prepared her family in case it became a reality. She loved her Pakistan enough to leave her life in exile, and return.

She knew something that we all want to forget, but never should, we live in a dangerous world in which terrorism is a way of life, we have felt it in our Nation, but in a small way by comparison to so many other Nations, and we must do all we can to elect and support leaders that realize that it is only a matter of time before terrorism strike our homeland again.

I won’t even go into the various ways the politicians took advantage of the opportunity to promote themselves…some with sincerity and valid insights.

For this post, I just want to say that one woman living in a small home in Northern New Jersey was moved today as I watched and listened to the news…I did finally have to turn it off, as it is my birthday and life had to move on, but it’s 11 pm as I type this, so you know that it’s still with me.

Praying for those in Pakistan and other nations who want to live as a democracy.
