Insensitive Press on Senator Ted Kennedy
May 20th, 2008I have been listening on and off all weekend and beyond for news of a diagnosis on Senator Kennedy following his seizure(s) Saturday morning, then today, it came. Over the years we haven’t been fans of Senator Kennedy in some of his thinking and decisions, but that never takes away from concern for a fellow human being, and as my husband and I prayed for our meal tonight, he took a moment to remember Ted Kennedy, praying for healing physically, and a right spiritual focus to face the days to come.
But getting to the “insensitive press” part, though yes, the brain tumor may be serious, I was surprised to hear some speak of him as if his life is over…not everyone spoke that way, but enough. How hard for Kennedy if he is tuning in the news to hear such talk. I hope he isn’t listening, and focusing on his family and his future.
Everyone knows the list of tragic events that have befallen the Kennedy family for many years…anyone who can come through all of that, and still find a way to press on, is ready to face yet another challenge.
We’re praying for you, Senator Kennedy.

I know all too well about the Kennedy’s short falls and the woes that he has had to burien. Prior to Moving to Florida I was a native of Massachusetts. I do have to say that when the tough got going right there in the middle was Ted Kennedy. He was and still is a fighter in my book. I feel his power all the way down here in Florida he may represent the state of Massachusetts but if fact due to his beliefts and power to go forward he has made not only changes in Massachusetts but he has helped other Senators make changes that are needed in thier own states. I have every pray that I can think of going to the senior Senetor of the Senator and just like every other sorrow that has fallen on the Kennedy’s he will rise to the challage that this brings to him. It has been said for many years that he was the black sheep of the family because of a tragic accident that happened to him in his youth. But he has taken that tragic accident and I believe that he has over come the obstical that was his down fall and has done more good in the senate than what he could have ever done as President. As President he is limited to two terms and then a life after. With Senator Kennedy he has served the country for a span of about 3 decads. What more of a legacy could any one person ask for he has fought for every thing that he has and with the power of pray and family he will overcome this fight too.

As someone who spent many years in the media, I am often ashamed at how reporters choose to tell stories. I am also disgusted at the stories they choose to cover and even more outraged that some people give them the “ammunition.” People who printed up t-shirts with a monkey’s face and depicting it as Obama are disrespectful and the media had a field day with it. Under the same token, it was also a big deal when Hillary Clinton said Obama couldn’t get the “white vote” because working class white people would never vote for him. Why? The media wouldn’t tell you that because they didn’t want to appear as racist as the people who really feel that way.
