Tears, Smiles & Voices of Children
Monday, August 25th, 2008I’ve just finished listening to Michelle Obama, and earlier, Ted Kennedy, and I can tell you, you don’t have to be a Democrat to have been moved by this evening…perhaps not as deeply moved as I expected to be, but moved none the less.
Michelle did a wonderful job, I can’t imagine, as a woman, standing up and speaking before so many. As Juan Williams of FOX news very emotionally expressed in his words after her speech, this was a historic moment. And it was, we have never had an African American candidate for the Presidency, and Juan’s emotion at seeing Michelle on the stage reminds us that there is still so much healing going on in the hearts of our black brothers and sisters.
“Daddy”, Barack Obama, came on for a bit after her speech via satellite, and I’m not sure whether he was prepared for all the questions by his adorable daughters were going to ask. There was a helpful question in the mix for him, by the way, as he stated that he was in St. Louis at first, and thanks to his daughters question was able to correct that and say he was in Kansas City.
So tonight was a “warm and fuzzy” night, maybe in the nights to come we’ll get to see what Barack Obama plans to do as President, tonight that was definitely not the focus.
