Tears, Smiles & Voices of Children

Monday, August 25th, 2008

I’ve just finished listening to Michelle Obama, and earlier, Ted Kennedy, and I can tell you, you don’t have to be a Democrat to have been moved by this evening…perhaps not as deeply moved as I expected to be, but moved none the less.

Michelle did a wonderful job, I can’t imagine, as a woman, standing up and speaking before so many. As Juan Williams of FOX news very emotionally expressed in his words after her speech, this was a historic moment. And it was, we have never had an African American candidate for the Presidency, and Juan’s emotion at seeing Michelle on the stage reminds us that there is still so much healing going on in the hearts of our black brothers and sisters.

“Daddy”, Barack Obama, came on for a bit after her speech via satellite, and I’m not sure whether he was prepared for all the questions by his adorable daughters were going to ask. There was a helpful question in the mix for him, by the way, as he stated that he was in St. Louis at first, and thanks to his daughters question was able to correct that and say he was in Kansas City.

So tonight was a “warm and fuzzy” night, maybe in the nights to come we’ll get to see what Barack Obama plans to do as President, tonight that was definitely not the focus.

It’s Hillary Clinton!!

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I’m sorry, just kidding, it’s late and I’m tired, but wouldn’t it be funny if that’s the text message everyone received on their cell phones, those that are going to receive the message, that is.

Hubby and I were talking tonight, and we aren’t Democrats, but can see that with how close the race is, having Hillary as Barack’s Vice President would make living at the White House a LOT more hopeful than it is now, right? Or are we wrong?

Maybe…because I think that if John McCain picks Mitt Romney as HIS running mate, we’d have close race once again.

I haven’t gotten into the “Veepstakes” talk much…where did the word “Veepstakes” come from anyway? …because it’s dragging on and on, and who wants to hear more, but since the first VP selection should be known by this time tomorrow, thought I’d give it a go.

Wouldn’t it be funny to wake up and find out I wasn’t kidding in title after all? (No it wouldn’t be :-))

Democratic Convention - Need a Place to Stay?

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Are you looking for a place to stay during the Democratic Convention? The convention will take place in my husband’s home state, and he won’t mind the fact that he’s way out here in New Jersey, because, as you know if you follow this blog, he’s not a democrat. But he has a couple of family members in Colorado who are, so they are probably happy that it will be in Denver August 25th through 28th. There’s a site called “National Corporate Housing” that offers corporate apartments for a variety of reasons, and I noticed they would be offering housing for the Convention at their website. They have also provided temporary housing after the terrible wild fires in the San Diego and Southern California area. Even if you need housing for something other than the convention, the site is so clean, and so easy to use, that I’d stop by and take a look.  I’ll let you know if they decide to offer anything for the Republican Convention.  Can’t wait to get to the point where we know who will be running against who…it’s been a LONG wait!
