Thought I Didn’t Notice McCain - Palin Are Ahead?

Monday, September 8th, 2008

No, I noticed, have been taking a break from blogging over the weekend.  But I didn’t miss the fact that McCain had more viewers of his comparatively humble but powerful acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.  Yes, it was a great night for Obama when he spoke, a great show, I really enjoyed it and as I have shared, commend him on his accomplishment as far as being the first black American to run for President, but the winds have shifted a bit as far as who is in the lead in the race to the White House.

Obama is a wonderful man, but he is out-experienced by McCain, and it is going to show in the days to come. More on that another time, here is John McCain’s acceptance speech in 5 parts. No, he is not the power speaker Obama is, or Sarah Palin is, but he has a LOT of content:

9/11 - Ignored Topic at the Democratic Convention?

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Each time I listen to the speeches made at the Democratic Convention, especially the past couple of nights when speakers list the economic and other problems we face in our Nation, I never, ever to my memory have heard mention of the attack on our Nation on 9/11/2001.  We’re only weeks away from the 7th anniversary of this assault on the USA and nothing has been said about it, unless I’ve missed it.

No one seems to consider the fact that economy and EVERYTHING is affected by war. Some are even foolish enough to think that it is an “un-necessary war”. It seems that some want to forget about what has happened, and just get our nation back to the “comfy” years of the ’80’s…comfy for some, that is.  It was during those comfy and complacent years that our enemies were planning their attack, it is while we sit in our homes and wish for days gone by that they continue to plan and prepare to attack.  I don’t mean to post “gloom and doom”, it’s just a reality, and we need a leader that is willing to face this fact and face it head on.

Which one of the candidates to you feel is most ready to take this on?

Who Is Ready to Be a Post-9/11 President?
John McCain
Barack Obama

McCain’s Goodbye to Hanoi Hilton

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Today is the anniversary of McCain’s return to freedom after approx. 7 years as a POW in Viet Nam’s well known Hanoi Hilton, I already did a post back in December with a written interview done shortly after he returned home.

I’ve tried to add a video that is great, but am having trouble getting it to work, so click here to be taken to a great YouTube by John McCain reflecting on his experience.

I want to express my thanks to John McCain and so many others that have experienced what he has, as well as those who are serving in the military today, and those families who have said goodbye to loved ones who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

McCain - Endorsed by Bush and Worthy

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Over the past few years or more, I’ve listened to hubby tell be how John McCain is a moderate, more liberal than conservative, and I’ve been hearing that a LOT on the news as well. But I have to say I’m not all that upset that he is the nominee for the Republican Party. There’s these little things about him that endear me, I appreciate how he takes time to thank each one of his rivals every time he makes a victory speech; it was nice to see his attention turn to his wife when he got out of the car to greet the President today to make certain she got out of the car safely, a gentleman. Ok, so I’m a woman, I notice things like that. And yes, I’ve seen him have his tough, and even abrasive, moments, but he’s balanced, and real. What you see is what you get…that’s how I see him. What do you think?

The anniversary of McCain’s return to America after spending years as a POW in the Hanoi Hilton in Viet Nam is just around the corner, if you haven’t read that story, and his interview, I have a post about it right here.

Now if the Democrats can just get through their exhausting and excessive process, we’ll know who McCain will be running against.

McCain -v- ???, Goodbye Huckabee?

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

I’ve been sitting here with the results playing in the background all evening…after hubby and I watched a movie…and the guy who inspired the blog (my husband) was snoring before all the results were in.  He pretty much had it figured out, so wasn’t interested in watching. As I type this, they haven’t called Texas yet, and there are still people waiting to Caucus, but it’s looking like Hillary had a good night tonight, taking Ohio and likely to take Texas, and of course Rhode Island, and Obama only managing to capture Vermont…I guess I shouldn’t say ONLY, he HAS taken 12 states.

The hardest part of the evening for me was watching Mike Huckabee’s concession speech. He speaks SO well, and looked a bit emotional for the first time.  I hate to see him go….but I’m going to be following him, I think we’ll be seeing him in the days to come.

Well as I say goodnight, they have just projected Hillary as the winner in Texas, and I haven’t said a lot about McCain…but we have months ahead to dig into him.

Can we put Hillary’s name in place of the ???? marks yet in the subject line?  Not yet.
