Mike Huckabee - Where Is He Now

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

I realized that when I moved over to this new blog platform, I never added the list of the candidates websites, past and present, on the blog, so I put in the url for Mike Huckabee’s old site and was re-directed to a new one, Huck-PAC.

Stop by to find out more about this organization, read their blog, and more, it looks like a great site! Here’s a paragraph from the site to give you a taste of what it’s all about:

“Thanks to your support and hard work, during our Governor Huckabee’s campaign for President these past months, we became known as the team who could do more with less. Now, our goal is to continue our work with the same reputation. We will have a very active online community and will focus on organizing and building a national grassroots organization that turns Republicans out to vote.

“Huck PAC will be innovative and will fight every step of the way for the candidates we support. Hard work wins elections and the principles we are fighting for are far too important not to give our all.”

McCain -v- ???, Goodbye Huckabee?

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

I’ve been sitting here with the results playing in the background all evening…after hubby and I watched a movie…and the guy who inspired the blog (my husband) was snoring before all the results were in.  He pretty much had it figured out, so wasn’t interested in watching. As I type this, they haven’t called Texas yet, and there are still people waiting to Caucus, but it’s looking like Hillary had a good night tonight, taking Ohio and likely to take Texas, and of course Rhode Island, and Obama only managing to capture Vermont…I guess I shouldn’t say ONLY, he HAS taken 12 states.

The hardest part of the evening for me was watching Mike Huckabee’s concession speech. He speaks SO well, and looked a bit emotional for the first time.  I hate to see him go….but I’m going to be following him, I think we’ll be seeing him in the days to come.

Well as I say goodnight, they have just projected Hillary as the winner in Texas, and I haven’t said a lot about McCain…but we have months ahead to dig into him.

Can we put Hillary’s name in place of the ???? marks yet in the subject line?  Not yet.

Huckabee - How the Media has Messed Up

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

I know, I guess I’m supposed to be all charged up about Super Tuesday II, maybe I’ll get there when the results start coming in. I’m actually really tired of listening to the same old things on the media each day…but today while fixing lunch, I heard Mike Huckabee in the background sharing some thoughts about how the media has handled the election process. Finally, something different and interesting, at least to me. Here’s some of the things he shared, and they made a lot of sense…another reason why I’m glad he’s persisted in his run, we can still hear his insight…here’s what he shared when Greta Van Sustern questioned him on FOX News today:

  • When asked about the reason for Obama’s success, his response was, among other things, the fact that the media had given him “a great big wet kiss”, recalling the 45 to 50 minutes for an uninterrupted speech…he challenged the media to give all of the candidates that opportunity.
  • If your going to have an honest debate with candidates, give them equal time, he gave examples of how he would be given 6 minutes in a debate while others were given 23.
  • Give correct information, Huckabee gave the example of the media stating they were pulling out of Florida when they were not pulling out, and were there every single day…”that really hurt us there”.
  • Constant negative reports…so and so can’t win, mathematically impossible to win, which finally ingrains in peoples thought processes. Mike challenged the media with why not one network has the same delegate count as the other.
  • Also the negative influence of reporting that someone is out of the running before someone has reached the delegate count required. He compared it to, on the night of the presidential election, making the decision that we aren’t going to count any of the votes west of the Mississippi because of the trend we see in votes East of the Mississippi. “Would Americans accept that..of course they wouldn’t. So why are we calling the election before Ohio, Texas, Vermont, Rhode Island has all voted….hopefully with each election cycle we learn something and maybe do it a little differently the next time”.

I’m so glad Mike Huckabee hasn’t stepped down so we can hear common sense like this.
