Humor - New Year’s Political Post With Disclaimer

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

I don’t know what’s gotten into me tonight…my husband (the inspiration for this blog, remember?) has been forwarding me funny political emails over the past couple of days.

The one I put up a couple posts back was one of them, and it really is funny, this next one is a little on the edge, but funny if you will take it that way, and I hope you will.  I am looking forward to what the new administration will bring to the table…and want them to bring it on soon, we’ve been waiting long enough.  I hope you’ll get a chuckle or two at this New Year’s wish we received from a friend:

I want you guys to be the first of all my e-mail buddies that I wish to send Happy New Year greetings…

As I reflect on 2008, I can say we had a great year:

Blacks are happy; Obama was elected.
Whites are happy, OJ is in jail.
Democrats are happy; George Bush is leaving office.
Republicans are happy: Democrats will finally quit saying George Bush stole the election.
And all of us are so happy; The election is finally over!

I think 2009 will be even better:

Immediately after his inauguration, Obama will balance the budget, revive the economy, solve the real estate problem, solve the auto industry problem, solve our gas/alternative energy problem, stop the fires and mudslides in California, ban hurricanes and tornadoes, stop identity theft, reverse global warming, find Osama, solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, get rid of corruption in government and achieve world peace .

Then on the 7th day, He will rest.

Best wishes for 2009

“The government cannot give to anyone anything that it does not first take from someone else.”

Humor - Political Science

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

This is one of those things that’s making it’s way around by email.  It’s a lot more fun than watching the twists and turns of politics on the news, which is ridiculous bordering on humerous as it is.  I thought I’d share this serious funny for you to enjoy while we wait for something that doesn’t border on the insane (referring to all the Blago, Franken, blabla stuff that we have to listen to each day) to happen.

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium’s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of morons promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalysed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

A Little Humor, and Why This Blog Anyway?

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

I guess this is as good a time as any to have a little fun, and to remind my readers why I started this blog, especially since most of the political news is about negative advertising, negative this, negative that, and I’m not in the mood to write about it.  Republicans, you may like this, Democrats, maybe not.

First, I started this blog because of my husband…he has always been into politics, and I have had only a slight interest.  It’s tough being married to a guy that loves talking about the latest thing he heard on Rush Limbaugh, or the latest thing he heard at a meeting because of his involvement in local politics when frankly, I don’t care as much as I should, so I thought that maybe if I mixed my love for blogging with writing about political things it would help me come to terms.

Here is the latest thing that my husband received from a member of his family that he forwarded to me by email…yes, even though he’s sitting a room away at his desktop while I’m at my laptop.  We have a bear that visits frequently, (visit my New Jersey Baby Boomer blog under the “NJ Wildlife” category for our latest pictures) either our trash or bird feeder, so we loved this for a few reasons :-)  Here goes:

The photo below captures a disturbing trend that is beginning to affect wildlife in the US. Animals that were formerly self-sufficient are now showing signs of belonging to the Democratic Party… as they have apparently learned to just sit and wait for the government to step in and provide for their care and sustenance.

Looking for a Place for Open, Lively Debate?

Friday, September 5th, 2008

If you’re looking for a place for lively debate and discussion about the political issues and the election, I’ve been made aware of a political blog where you can “argue with everyone”. This is an open-forum, un-moderated blog with few rules or guidelines, so in a sense you are diving in at your own risk, and might see just about anything. The intention, I am sure, is to embrace that fact that we as a Nation have Freedom of Speech. It is your choice what you chose to do with that freedom.

I’m about to go see what’s happening at the blog right now.
