Bill Richardson to be Commerce Secretary
Friday, November 21st, 2008It has just been confirmed that former Ambassador to the United Nations, and former Governor to New Mexico will fill the White House Cabinet position of Commerce Secretary. And there’s another name or two to come in my next posts, making the stock market very happy today…lets see if that holds up.
His responsibility will be to oversee the Department of Commerce, which is involved in economic growth, international trade, and the advancement of technology. At times like this when the economy is so unstable, getting these Cabinet Members chosen, and their names out to the public, has to be re-assuring to many.
Here’s another interesting link for you, you can browse U.S. Government Manuals for the past several years to learn more about what in involved in each of the cabinet positions.
Additionally, “The Secretary of Commerce is responsible for the administration of all functions and authorities assigned to the Department of Commerce and for advising the President on Federal policy and programs affecting the industrial and commercial segments of the national economy.”
