Sarah Palin shares her “Job Description”

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I was listening to Sarah Palin on TV today during McCain and Palin’s visit to Ohio..oops, I mean Iowa.  In it she shared that John McCain had been talking with her about some of the responsibilities that she would have as Vice President.  I’m sure there will be more things revealed over time, but here is what she shared today (nice to hear some specifics, by the way!)

  • Help lead the mission of energy security.  She shared how the cost of energy is affecting many aspects of our economy from the price of food, living (up)  and paycheck (down).   Her experience in Alaska will help in the area of providing energy within our borders.  It is now a matter of National Security, we need American resources provided by American ingenuity and produced by American workers!
  • Reforming Government - making government more transparent, more accountable, more acceptable for those who want to  serve.  Will recruit the best people to run agencies, regardless of party affiliation or Washington experience. As Alaska’s governor she put Alaska’s checkbook online so people could see where money was going, will bring that kind of transparency to Washington.
  • Funding for students with Special Needs - she shares that this is an issue that touches her heart, starting 13 years ago with the birth of a nephew with autism, and then of course the birth of her own precious special needs child in April, their son, Trig.  (Personally, as a sister to a special needs brother who is now in his 40’s, I am especially attuned to this need, after spending several years researching what was out there, and learning what was needed to make sure that my dear brother was placed in the best group home setting available where we live…and he was this past June.)  She is going to make sure that government is working on behalf of special needs families.

These are just a few things she shared, I look forward to more of this, actual things that are going to be done, from all of the candidates.

Sarah Palin, Alaska’s Hockey Mom, Hits it Out of the Park!

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Wow, what a speech!  I am speechless!  I am in awe.  Literally, I don’t know what to say.  I will be back to add Sarah’s speech in case you missed it, and to give credit to the person who gets speeches up on YouTube faster than anyone I know.

Sarah spoke clearly, with poise, never cowering under all the attacks she has received in the press, and clearly showed her experience and that she is the right person to stand beside John McCain when THEY BECOME President and Vice President of the United States.

History has been made again this week as Sarah Palin is the first female Republican Vice President to ever be nominated.

Wonderful, brilliant evening…and Fox News, I did watch it on your station, your still my favorite in spite of my earlier post.

Sarah Palin, Thumbs Up from This Republican

Friday, August 29th, 2008

On her wedding anniversary, and on McCain’s birthday, and the week we celebrate the anniversary of woman winning the right to vote, a woman, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska is declared the Republican Vice Presidential candidate.  The speech she gave clearly showed her strength.

We have a lot to get to know about this woman, but we also know quite a bit. She has a son headed for Iraq who joined the military on September 11th…is it too much to ask that the hurricane headed for the gulf coast might push the Republican Convention up a week so it’s on the 9/11 anniversary? Maybe…I’d rather our friends in the south be safe! But I digress, Sarah gave birth to a child with Down’s Syndrome, as a sister to a brother who is disabled, this means something to me in a way it wouldn’t unless you’ve “been there”. In between these two children she has 3 other wonderful children and a husband who is a wonderful “regular” guy. How American can you get? No fireworks, no celebrities, just down home America in Ohio today, and quite a crowd, too!  Way to go, McCain!  I am finally excited about voting for my party again…not that I wasn’t going to, this has just added a whole new energy to the ticket. I hope nothing happens to upset that.

I was looking for a video of her speech, and will add it when I find it, but in the meantime, I found a few others that I’ll post for now.

Why Sarah Palin should be McCain’s VP:

It’s Looking Like Sarah Palin…No, It’s Official!!

Friday, August 29th, 2008

All indications seem to point to Gov. Sarah Palin of of Anchorage, Alaska…and as I type, FOX news reports it’s official!  More to come on this, but this is exciting…so outside the box…a woman, a conservative, a maverick like McCain, 44 years of age, single (oops, editing this, she’s not single) Mom of 5, child with Down’s Syndrome, pro-life, pro-family, from almost as far away from Washington DC as you can get in the US.

I’ll have more to share, but for now, this is the official word! Go McCain, another sign of what a maverick you are!

The Wait is On for Republican VP

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Now it’s the Roublican’s turn.  Who will McCain pick?  Great job of keeping a secret, McCain.  They are already saying “no” to my picks, unless you have a surprise up your sleeve.  So far they say no to Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Pawlenty…so who is left?

Tom Ridge…Leiberman…Sarah Palin…Meg Whitman, CEO of eBay? These are names being tossed around this morning, as for the woman, I have to admit I don’t know much about them…in fact, so little I’m not even sure I spelled “Meg Whitman” right, I sell on eBay, but don’t know a thing about the CEO…I’ll have to do my homework. Waiting…..

Expected More Fanfare Over Biden VP Nomination

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

It’s Saturday evening, about 10:30 here on the East Coast, and I’m watching diving on the Olympics as I check the news and do a little blogging. I expected a lot more in the news on Biden being chosen as Obama’s VP, my hubby said that the infamous text message letting the “World” know that Obama had chosen Biden didn’t get out until about 3 am., quite a while after it hit the media, and those of us who were watching our alerts got it on our sites and blogs.

I did see an article in Washington Post that has a nice bio on Biden, and mentions Obama officially introducing him in Illinios yesterday, which should actually be today…but no matter, it’s a good article, and timing doesn’t seem to be everything if everyone knew about Obama’s choice before the magic text message was sent. But if you’re fussy about timing, read the article on Sunday, then the event WILL have been yesterday:-).

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, we have a lot to look forward to, the Democratic Convention, John McCain’s VP choice, the Republican Convention, Debates, things are finally getting interesting again.
